CV&P – Culture Values and Performance
Paul Stephens is a sales performance specialist who has more than 20 years experience of building successful sales teams. He has a clear insight into the relationship between the Values and Culture of an organisation and the way in which they impact on Performance.
Paul is based in the North West but works throughout the UK. He works on a bespoke basis and brings a practical and pragmatic approach to the improvement of sales teams and businesses. His specialist areas are traditional and new media and recruitment and classified advertising.
Many organisations invest in training in order to solve performance issues when the real problems lie deeper into the organisation and relate to the values and culture that have developed over time and from the top down. Companies that succeed develop shared values, effective management and great systems in order to get employee buy in and superior performance. Evidence of the opposite can be seen when there is a lack of trust, a blame culture and a lack of confidence in the systems and leadership
Paul will improve sales performance by making an assessment of the products, the people and the processes within an organisation. He will assess the culture in which the current performance is delivered and make recommendations for change. Paul offers the following services:
Interim and Project Management – to improve the performance of a sales team by assessing the people, the processes, the products and the sales culture. To make recommendations for change and to manage the change process.
Paul is a qualified Prince2 practitioner and has extensive experience of change management having restructured sales operations and launched new products.
Consultancy – to improve the performance of a sales team by assessing the attitudes and behaviour of people, the impact of processes and the perceived and real value of products that create its sales culture and make recommendations for change.

“I’ve worked with Paul for a number of years at TJG, but most recently on new business launches. He has a wealth of experience, and an instinctive ‘gut’ feel for what will work (and won’t) that is unrivalled. Paul is a great leader and visionary – trusting the people around him to do their jobs, but on hand for direction, and often to help out if that’s what’s required. Paul was a fantastic director to work with and I’d happily do it all again.” September 22, 2008

Who is Spartacus?
‘I’m Spartacus’. I am soley responsible for the success of totaljobs.com. Actually, I am one of many dozens who can lay claim to its success. It is 10 years since I joined that project and I find myself reflecting on the vital ingredients that led to its success. I am reflecting because I have just walked away from another business that did not share my values and I now realise just how important Values and Culture are to the success of an organisation. Organisational culture is defined as “the specific collection of values and norms that are shared by people and groups in an organisation and that control the way they interact with each other and with stakeholders outside the organisation”
I took Values for granted when I was at Reed Business Information for 20 years. Boundarylessness was the Value that generated the most cynicism. But we had a few more that were tough to demonstrate at your annual appraisal. It didnt really matter though because the people running that business led from the front. People, products and processes were all developed with those Values at the heart of everything. And it was very successful. www.totaljobs.com had no distinctive USPs and only a fraction of the marketing budget held by the likes of Monster, Workthing, Stepstone and Jobsite. What it did have was a group of people who were experienced, insightful, pragmatic, bold and confident. We had Values which created a great Culture which impacted on everyone and dictated the way we did business.
I left RBI and the totaljobs project in 2008 and now live in Manchester. I plan to share my knowledge and experience with people and orgnaisations who share my views. Businesses that succeed develop shared values, effective management and great systems in order to get employee buy in and superior performance. Evidence of the opposite can be seen when there is a lack of trust, a blame culture and a lack of confidence in the systems and leadership. CV&P (Culture, Values and Performance) is my new venture and I would like to thank everyone at totaljobs.com for helping me get here.
